Sound
To avoid any copyright issues, we used royalty free music via Bensound.com. The two tracks we used were:

Ofelia's Dream
We used this music at the start of the opening while the titles were overlayed and building up to the start of the action. This was effective as it was slow and created an eerie, mysterious atmosphere which hooked the audience.
Instinct
Because this piece of music is so fast-paced, it was perfect for building tension in our film opening. For this reason we used it both while Stephen was frantically hiding his drugs and alcohol from his father, and after receiving a threatening text from a mysterious number.
Through our research, we realised some of the most effective conventions of the drama genre. We noted that slower music, often played on string instruments like violins or cellos, were best for creating a mysterious and uneasy atmosphere.
Two examples we looked at were 'Black Mass' and 'Silence of the Lambs', and both of these dramas used slow music to create an atmosphere of mystery and danger.
